Sarah Ann Owens Hamilton Sarah Annette Atkins Owens Hamilton, age 80, of Anderson, passed away at AnMed Health Medical Center on Tuesday, March 04, 2014. Born on January 20, 1934 in Seneca, SC, she was the daughter of the late Dewitt Decatur Atkins and the late Beatrice Gertrude Cape Atkins. Mrs. Hamilton was a nursing assistant in home health care service. She was a member of the VFW Post 5996 Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hamilton was of the Baptist Faith. She was devoted to her husband of 34 years, Larry W. Hamilton of the residence, and her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Stephen E. Owens (Kim) of Anderson; a daughter, Jackie Owens Peden of Anderson; 2 step daughters, Holly Hamilton Vaughan (Terry) of Anderson and Tamara Hamilton Lozano (Al) of Fayetteville, NC; a sister, Imojean Atkins Williams of Seneca. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Wilborn Eugene Owens, a son, Stanley Wilborn Owens, and a daughter Melissa Owens Cheek. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Sarah Ann Hamilton will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 12 noon at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Captain Christopher Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Hamilton may be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
