KINGMAY 2, 1921 - JanUARY 13, 2010ANDERSON, SC ' Sarah Jane Howie King, age 88, of 716 Marshall Avenue, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at the AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Anderson, SC, on May 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Fred M. Howie and Alma Burress Howie. She graduated from Anderson Girl's High School, Winthrop College, and Clemson University. Mrs. King was a retired Educator and Guidance Counselor. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, served as the Chairman of the Child Development Center Board, served on the St. John's Official Board, and was instrumental in founding the St. John's Clothes Closet.Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Robert Bethune 'Rob' King, Sr., of the home; son, Robert B. King, Jr. and wife, Welta C. King of Anderson, SC; granddaughter, Rachel Causey of Suwanee, GA.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe B. Howie.Following a family committal service in New Silver Brook Cemetery, a Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 15, 2010, at St. John's United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Dr. William R. Childs and the Reverend Dr. John M.
