Sarah Frances Whitmire Williams, age 85, of Anderson, SC, loving wife to Howard Jerry Williams for 64 years, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021, at her residence. Born June 15, 1936, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Robert Whitmire and Grace Myers Whitmire. Sarah was a graduate of Greenville High School, Class of 1954. She worked at Southern Bell then Appleton Mill in Personnel as an Insurance Clerk where she later retired. She was a charter member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she was a Nursery Attendant for 25 years and served on the bereavement committee and enjoyed socializing with the Golden Ambassadors. She was a great cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and baking cakes for her many friends. She was a woman of great faith who was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed. In addition to her husband, Jerry, she is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Wagner (Robert) of Irmo, SC; son, Mitch Williams (Jo) of Blythewood, SC; brother, Thomas Earl Whitmire of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Caleb Williams (Jessica), Rebekah Williams Hullihen (Mitch), and Rachel Wagner; two sisters-in-law; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William Donald Whitmire and Walter Edward Whitmire. The family will receive friends Monday, August 2, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glenn Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Upstate for the excellent care and compassion shown to Mrs. Williams.
