Obituary

John Scott McCallum, 70, of Pendleton, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at his home with his wife and two children by his side. Born April 27, 1950, in Seneca, SC, he was the son of the late Lawrence Neil McCallum and Barbara Aiken Buchanan. Scott proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he earned two Associate Degrees in Engineering while still actively serving in the military where he retired after 20 years as a Senior Army Drill Sergeant. He was an avid scuba diver, enjoyed old cars and nostalgic drag racing. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Charlene Timms McCallum; son, Daniel Scott McCallum and his wife, Kayla; daughter, Dana Lynn Hobgood and her husband, Tony; brother, Lawrence Neil McCallum; sister, Josephine McCallum-Townley; grandchildren, Kara Frame, Deyton Caldwell, Alayna Clough, Tony Hobgood, Jr., Kevin McCallum, Ayden Clay and Saylor McCallum; and great-granddaughter, Everly James Frame. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, PO Box 43, Anderson, SC 29622 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
