SMITH, JR.AUGUST 22, 1929 - July 7, 2011HONEA PATH, SC ' SFC Thomas Frederick Smith, Jr., US Army, Ret'd, age 81, of 309 Due West Road, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at the McCall Hospice House.Born August 22, 1929, in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Thomas Frederick Smith Sr. and Essie Smith Smith. A highly decorated career United States Army soldier, his twenty-three years of service included occupational duty in Germany, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a part of the 82nd Airborne as well as the 173rd Airborne. Survivors include his wife, Jenny Jennings Smith, of the home; four children: Thomas Frederick Smith III and wife, Sandra, of Belton, SC, Jackie Warner and husband, Alex, of Hope Mill, NC, Tommie Jean Evans and husband, James, of Fayetteville, NC, and Lisa Bly and husband, Robert, of Anderson, SC; brother, Billy Smith of McPherson, KS; two sisters: Margaret Timmerman of N. Augusta, SC; and Luvinia West of Union, SC; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two half-brothers.The Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, July 11, 2011, at M.J. 'Dolly' Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
