Shawn Darryn Johnson Chastain, age 25, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021. Born August 4, 1996, in Anderson, SC, he is the son of James D. Chastain and Myrtice Arleta Johnson. He worked in construction and loved sports. He attended many Atlanta Braves baseball games and participated in Little League baseball in his childhood. He enjoyed listening to music, always having to have the latest headphones, and men's fashion, where Nike and Ralph Lauren were always a must. Some of his many hobbies included roller skating and skateboarding where he was known as "Skate Boy Pete" by his friends, sketching, playing video games, traveling, especially to the beach, and fishing, where he proudly acquired a large collection of unusual antique fishing rods through the years. Most of all, he loved and treasured spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepmother, Jennifer Ann Chastain; sisters, Miranda Segura (Chris), and Mariena Johnson Chastain, both of Orlando, FL, and Megan Johnson Chastain of Anderson, SC; stepbrother, Zach Owen of Dunlap, TN; grandfather, Stanley T. Johnson (Patricia) of Anderson, SC; uncles, Edwin M. Chastain, II, (Susan), and Bennett Long, both of Anderson, SC; aunts, Nance Henry (Doug) of Arizona, Stacey Durham (Freddy), and Tammy Johnson, both of Anderson, SC; and cousins, Jessica Chastain Harris (J.R.), Jennifer Drummond (Allan), Cody Durham (Katie), and Nikki Fulmer, all of Anderson, SC. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edwin M. Chastain, Jr., and Ilka Elizabeth Chastain; and maternal grandmother, Myrtice Vest Johnson; uncles, Darren Long, and Stanley Johnson; and cousins, Douglas Long, and Shawn Crumpton. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. The family will be at their respective homes. Flowers will be accepted.
