Shelby Jean Hilley Hawkins, age 86, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, at her home.

Born February 2, 1940, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Hilley and Grace Della Turner Hilley. She was married to Jesse Randolph Hawkins, Jr. until his death on April 19, 2026. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Hilley and Jerry Alton Hilley.

Shelby worked for Ryobi for 24 years before retiring. She enjoyed westerns, crossword puzzles, and gardening. She was famous for her delicious potato salad. Most of all, Shelby loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Gregory "Greg" Curtis Summerall, Rodney "Chad" Summerall (Melanie), and "Russell" Shannon Hawkins all of Anderson; daughter, Mitzi "Elaine" Galloway (Bruce); grandchildren, Bryson Summerall, Mikala Norris, Grady Hawkins, Will Hawkins, and Trey Hawkins; and great grandchildren, Christina Norris, Cadence Norris, and Caroline Norris.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 1:00-1:45 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
