Shelby Jean Kelley Carver Pruitt, age 83, of Starr, SC, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at her home.

Born September 7, 1941, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Carl Kelley and Vernell Meeks Kelley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Pruitt.

Shelby was a textile coordinator for 15 years at BASF. She never met a stranger and exhibited servanthood towards all people, but God first. She loved her church and the seniors at her church. She loved her brothers and sister, who she took care of. She loved shopping, camping, cooking and helping others. Shelby also loved her kids, especially her grandchildren and her dog, Fancy. She encouraged everyone to vote, was very involved in the Republican party and loved Donald Trump.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Durham (Robert) of Starr, Denise Clark of Starr and Terri Rogers (Johnathan) of Anderson; brothers, Johnny Kelley (Peggy) of Anderson and Steve Kelley (Mary Alice) of Anderson; sister, Janie Baxter of Anderson; grandchildren, Kelly Bruce (Aaron) of Starr, Shane Carver (Alexis) of Anderson, Josh Durham of Starr, Kayla Durham of Starr, and Dustin Clark of Anderson and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Reverend Sam Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.
