Shelby Powell Rumsey, age 72, of 306 Cherokee Road, Pelzer, passed away at her residence on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Born on February 22, 1942 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late James S. Powell and the late Betty Inez Wilson Powell Bolt. Shelby was a graduate of Anderson Girls High School and was employed as a Lab Technician for Hoechst Celanese Manufacturing Company for many years. She was a member of Broadway Lake Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, James G. Rumsey, II, of Pelzer; 2 brothers, Dennis J. Bolt of Pelzer and Harry W. Bolt of Williamston; a sister, Peggy B. Burdette and her husband, Ricky, of Anderson; 2 grandchildren Steven C. Watson and James S. Rumsey; also surviving are 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rumsey was preceded in death by her husband, the late James G. Rumsey; and 2 brothers, Levis R. Powell and Larry M. Bolt.
