Obituary

Shirley Ann Holden Browning, age 80, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at AnMed Medical Health Center. Born in Pickens Co., SC on March 4, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Colonel Ben Holden and the late Mary Velma Clark Holden. Shirley worked as a spooler in the textile industry for the majority of her career. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Thomas (Bradley) and Denise Fleming; four grandchildren, Amy Campbell (Jonathan), Brad Thomas (Emily), Crystal Davis and Jamey Kent; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James S. "Snake" Browning; and a brother, Tommy Holden. The Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Browning will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend David Walters officiating. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Anderson County PAWS at 1320 US-29 BUS, Anderson, SC 29626.
