Shirley Ann Hawkins Donald, age 80, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at AnMed Health Medical Center. She was the devoted wife of the late Billy Ray Donald until his death in 2010. Born on February 2, 1935, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Claude Hawkins and the late Susie Wheeler Hawkins. Mrs. Donald was a graduate of Anderson Girls' High School and was a member of West Anderson Church of God. Shirley was retired after many years with the Singer Company. She was a Godly Christian woman. After her retirement from Singer, she devoted herself to caring for her husband during the years he was in declining health. Survivors include a son, Rusty Donald and his wife, Debbie, of Anderson; a daughter, Ronda Wall and her husband, Ronnie, of Anderson; a brother, Don Hawkins and his wife, Louise, of Anderson, a sister, Judy Bailey of Anderson; also surviving are eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Donald was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky and Stevie Donald; a grandson, Matthew Kirby; two brothers, Henry and James Hawkins, and three sisters, Frances Cox, Stella Roland, and Sarah Massey. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at New Silver Brook Cemetery, with Rev. Terry Bailey and Rev. Mark Daniel officiating. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. The family requests contributions in memory of Mrs. Donald may be made to West Anderson Church of God, 101 Rogers Street, Anderson, SC 29625.
