Shirley Dyar Owen, age 85, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at North Pointe Assisted Living. Born October 4, 1936, in Pendleton, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Ernest Dyar and Janie Floy Collins Dyar. She was married to Franklin B. Owen until his death in 2007. In her early career, Shirley worked as an x-ray technician for Anderson Orthopedics. She was devoted to her family and taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed crafts and liked making all things pretty. Shirley had attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Refuge Baptist Church and Pendleton United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Marisa Owen Zanini (Sergio), Meredith Owen McCombs, Christopher Franklin Owen (Cheryl), and Amy Owen Fisher (Jeremy); grandchildren, Alessandra Zanini, Emily Rodgers (Devin), Olivia McCombs, Sara Beth Owen, Gavin Fisher and Bailey Fisher; great grandson, Wyatt Rodgers; brothers, Earl Dyar and Jerry Dyar; and sister, Ernestine Graham. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Ridley, Hazel Hall, Harold Dyar, Edward Dyar, and Hugh Dyar. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice and a special thank you to North Pointe Assisted Living for their dedication and special care provided to Mrs. Owen. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 11:00 am at The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. James Dyar officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal charity of one's choice.
