Shirley R. Swiney Anderson, SC Shirley Ringhausen Swiney, age 86, died on Monday, November 24, 2014, at AnMed Health Medical Center. She was born in St. Louis, MO, on November 29, 1927 to the late Harry and Viola Hamilton Ringhausen. Shirley was married to Kemp Swiney, Sr. in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Swiney graduated from Erskine College, class of 1949. She also worked for many years as the Director of Christian Education at Young Memorial ARP Church in Anderson and the Providence Presbyterian Church in Fairfax, VA. She was a member of Young Memorial ARP Church, being active in the Flora Halliday Circle, The Lunch Bunch, and was fundamental in helping digitize the church records. She was a member of the Upstate Corvair Club and coordinator of the welcoming committee at the Ravines Condominiums. Survivors include her son, Kemp Swiney, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, and their children, Drew and Abby, all of Greer, SC; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Ringhausen Edwards and her two brothers, Hamilton and Douglas Ringhausen. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Young Memorial ARP Church with Reverend Dr. Jeff Bost officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, November 29, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Erskine College, Class of 1949 Scholarship Fund, PO Box 338, Due West, SC 29639, or to Bonclarken Conference Center, 500 Pine Drive, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
