Shirley Ann McClure Wardlaw, age 83, of Pelzer, SC, loving wife to the late Herman Clyde Wardlaw, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, at her residence. Born October 4, 1938, in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late George Floyd McClure and Emma Rilla Nichols McClure. Shirley retired from Electrolux and was a member of Broadway Lake Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching children Sunday School. She loved reading, puzzles, crafting, sewing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Gail Brown and Jean Massey (Bob), both of Pelzer, SC; brother, George "Bud" McClure (Nellie) of Anderson, SC; sister, Diane Gilstrap of Anderson, SC; two grandchildren, Sara Hinshaw (Jonathan) of Commerce, GA, and Amanda Newton (Chris) of Iva, SC; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Steve D. Wardlaw and Ted R. Wardlaw; sister, Martha Juanita Vaughn; and brothers, Elmer B. McClure, Ernest McClure, and Floyd "Mac" McClure. The memorial service will be held Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Harrell officiating with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
