Whitman passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Anderson County on March 1, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Jefferson Tillmon Willis and Ruby Head Willis. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Enjoying time with her family and gardening were her greatest joys.Survivors include her children: Karen Link and husband, Mike Link of Pendleton, Wanda Hughes and husband, Ronnie Hughes of Seneca, and Kimberly Beck and husband, Bill Beck of Anderson; grandsons: James Evan Link and wife, Lisa Link, Michael Whitman Link, and Weston Walker Link, all of Pendleton; Ryan Allen Hughes & Holly Floyd, and James Robert Hughes, all of Seneca, and Parker Hampton Beck of Anderson; great grandsons: Jacob Evan Link of Pendleton and James Gavin Hughes of Seneca; sisters: Louise Haggerty of Sandy Springs, Beatrice Rollins of Pendleton, Jean Brown and Pat Gaines, both of Anderson; brothers: Bud Willis and Ray Willis, both of Sandy Springs, Tillmon and Nolan Willis, both of Anderson.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, James Barret Beck; sister, Edna Roper; and brother, Robert Willis.The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Roger Allison.
