Sister Mary Frances Hodges Cannon, age 75, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. She was born May 7, 1946, in Spartanburg, SC, and was the daughter of the late Henry Franklin Hodges, Jr. and Doris Estelle Joiner Hodges. Sister Mary Frances was a graduate of Limestone College in Greenville, SC, and was currently a teacher of religion at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. She was a certified chaplain, the spiritual director for Woman's Cursillo and had previously served at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Anderson, SC. In 1997, she joined the Sisters of St. Francis and in 2017, was the recipient of the South Carolina Catholic Religious Woman of the Year Award. Sister Mary Frances was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and will be remembered for youthful energy and love of life. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Bonita "Bonnie" Greve; son, Thomas Cannon; grandsons, Matthew Thomas Franklin and Cameron Greve; brothers, Calloway Hodges (Clare) and Andrew Hodges (Sandra); sister, Susan Dean; sisters-in-law, Bette Hodges and Rosalie York Hodges; and the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Corban Buzzotta; twin brother, Henry Frank Hodges and brother, Brian Hodges. The family will receive friends Friday, June 11, 2021, from noon to 1:30 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The funeral mass will follow at 2:00 pm celebrated by Father Philip S. Gillespie and Father Wilbroad Mwape. Interment will take place at a later date at Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Matthew T. Franklin Education Scholarship, First Citizens Bank, 304 Old Greenville Hwy., Clemson, SC 29631.
