With heavy hearts, we remember Spencer James Martin, age 16, of Anderson, South Carolina, who passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Born on March 26, 2010, in Anderson, South Carolina, Spencer was the beloved son of Brian and Allison Martin.

Spencer was a student at Pendleton High School where he was a proud member of the Bulldogs Football team. Football was truly his greatest passion, and he was excited to wear #2 this coming season as a Varsity wide receiver. Spencer loved his coaches, admired his teammates, and carried great pride in being a Bulldog. He was especially looking forward to the summer ahead and the opportunity he received to serve as a Battalion Leader during this year’s football sessions.

When he was not on the football field, Spencer enjoyed weightlifting, golf, basketball and fishing. He loved cheering on the Clemson Tigers and treasured any chance he had to spend time on the lake or the ocean with the people he loved most.

Spencer had big dreams for his future and spoke often about working in construction, coaching, or becoming a sportscaster. For Spencer, anything was possible. He had a bright spirit that lit up any room and a natural gift for creating laughter. Spencer never met a stranger because he considered everyone he met a friend and he had many. Spencer’s ability to love and show kindness to all left a lasting impression on anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Above all, Spencer loved his family deeply. He shared a special bond with his older sister, Julea, and he absolutely adored his baby brother, Ben. The love he gave so freely and the joy he brought to their lives will be treasured forever.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Jerri B. Martin.

In addition to his parents, Brian and Allison, Spencer is lovingly remembered by his sister, Julea Cole; his brother, Benjamin Martin; his paternal grandfather, Larry Martin; his maternal grandparents, Tom and Ginny Boltin; his uncles, Rion Boltin, Philip Martin; and many cousins and best friends including, Karsyn Godfrey, Raine Gillespie, Dennis Holcombe, Alex Wells, Dax Allen, Ashlee Isom, Sam Jennings, Hogan Haynie and many, many more.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson.
