Johnston, died Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born April 17, 1917 in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Robert Owen and Blanche Kay Owen and a graduate of Limestone College. She retired from the Anderson County School System, District one, after 35 years of service. She was a member of the South Carolina Retired Teachers Association, the First Baptist Church of Anderson and the Athena Bible Class.Surviving are her sisters, Catherine O. Webb and Frances O. Kowalski both of Anderson, and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilhelmena O. Mahaffrey and Alton O. Rodgers and a brother, James Robert Owen. A funeral service will be held Tuesday December 2, 2008 at 2 pm in the chapel of the McDougald Funeral Home with Dr. James R. Thomason officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2 pm Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the funeral home.A private interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621 or the First Baptist of Anderson, 307 S.
