Wayne Stephen Dunn (Daddy, Poppy, Stevie D, Dawg Dunn), age 68, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Columbia. Born in Anderson on February 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Max Lee Dunn and the late Helen Davis Dunn. Steve was a graduate of T. L. Hanna High School, Class of 1966. He graduated from Limestone College with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Dunn proudly served his country in the U. S. Army where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, served in Vietnam, and received both the Purple Heart and the Air Medal. He was retired as a retail business owner in Anderson. Prior to that, he was a District Manager for Sears. A devoted collector of Mickey Mouse watches, "I Voted" stickers, and dispensary bottles, Steve set a personal record last Thanksgiving by going seven minutes without making a smart-aleck remark. He was an avid student of history and trivia, and would never shy away from robust, informed conversation on any topic. Everyone who knew him loved his aggressive wit and cantankerous good humor, and he made friends easily wherever life took him. Left to carry on his legacy are two loving daughters, Amanda Dunn Martin, and her husband Kevin, and Jennifer Dunn McDonald, and her husband Tim, both of Columbia; and four grandchildren, Lilly and Owen Hart, and Hayes and Davis Hilton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Dunn Teasley. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Steve Dunn will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Cremation will follow.
