Steve Carter Lawing, age 65, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021, in a sudden accident. Born March 21, 1955 in Elkin, NC, he was the son of Maxie Carter Lawing and the late Hubert Shuford Lawing. He was married for 24 years to Jeanette Brannon Lawing until her death in 2013. Steve was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed with Ansco & Associates. He enjoyed working in his yard, woodworking, fishing, and golfing and was a NASCAR fan, specifically of Dale Earnhardt. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Christy Lawing, Maria Eddleman, and Angela Cherry (Ken); special granddaughter of the home, Alexis Workman; brother, Rick Lawing (Maria) of Michigan; sister, Janice Miller (Wayne) of Catawba, NC; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his best friend and boss, Josh Davis and his Ansco family. In addition to his wife and father, he was preceded in death by his sons, Christopher and Steven Lawing; and brother, Ronnie Lawing. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 20, 2021, from noon to 1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted.
