Steven Mark Ort, age 56, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born January 24, 1970, in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England, he was a son of Susan Echlin DesChamps and the late William Laird Ort, Jr.

Steve was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Gail. He loved football, NASCAR, and singing karaoke. He also loved his pets, especially his cats, and was known as the "cat whisperer". Steve was very social and outgoing and was a regular at Logans, his favorite restaurant. He enjoyed woodworking and made a very useful spice rack for his mother-in-law Donna. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Gail Louise Hopkin Ort; mother, Susan DesChamps; and brother, Scott Ort.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his nana, Mary Ann Ort.

No services are planned. Mr. Ort's final resting place will be at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, MI.
