He was born in Anderson, SC. A Church of God Pentecostal believer for over 35 years. A Sunday school teacher and Trainer of the Evangelism Breakthrough course. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Ella Bain Chambers, of Stanley, NC. His father, Roy P. Chambers, of Anderson. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Hedden Chambers. Brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Bruce & Vickie Chambers, of Seneca, SC; sister, Gail Hayes, of Anderson. Five nieces and two nephews. He worked in Information Technologies for many years. He died from cancer, but Steve is forever rejoicing in the presence of the Lord. In lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones are encouraged to honor the memory of Steve, by contributing to: Stumphouse Mountain Church of God Building Fund, P.O. Box 118, Walhalla, SC 29691. Pastor: Rev. Bruce Chambers. A private family viewing will occur 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The 'Celebrate Me Home' service will be conducted by Rev. Bruce Chambers at 2:00 pm in The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 1, 2011. There will be no committal service.The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
