Steven B. Hunter (1958-2023) of Anderson, SC, age 65, passed away on July 15, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
A resident of Anderson, he held various jobs in retail during his working life with included music supplier Handelman Co., CVS Pharmacy (store manager), and lastly AutoZone on River Street in Anderson, SC. He and his partner, Boyd Galloway, formed Steven Boyd Enterprises through which they managed rental properties, maintained lawns, and renovated several houses.
As a young man growing in Ora and Gray Court in Laurens County, Steve and his family enjoyed showing prize-winning cattle in competitions far and wide. He initially attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and graduated with a degree in animal science from Clemson University.
A few of the activities he enjoyed were walking his border collie around Anderson University and the Boulevard, traveling to new places, refinishing furniture, renovating older houses, and during the last two years, exercising at the YMCA with his GAPS buddies. Always kind, considerate, and thinking of others, Steve had a gentle soul, quietly living his life by example with pride in his accomplishments and a sarcastic wit. He will be greatly missed by his long-time companion of twenty-two years, Boyd, and all those who knew and loved him.
Steve's wish was to do what he could to further neurodegenerative disease research. As such, he donated his brain to the Medical University of South Carolina's brain bank in hope that a treatment will be found for Parkinson's Disease.
