Steven V. Pope of 2314 Poplar Lane, Anderson, SC departed his earthly home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 23, 2015 at the age of 56 after a long illness. He is survived by his parents, Vernon and Elena Pope of the home and his brother Richard Pope of Pendleton, SC. Steve was an active member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple in Starr, SC. He was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School and received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University, and earned a Master's degree from the University of Georgia. Steve was a former employee of the University of West Georgia, Tri County Technical College, Chiquola Manufacturing, Springs Industries, and BASF. He was involved with many charities, he did volunteer work, and was a friend to anyone in need. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Duncan officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gethsemane Baptist Temple, 6116 Hwy 81 South, Starr, SC 29684.
