Patsy Sumaria "Sue" Vanadore Poore, of Anderson, SC, passed into the hands of her Lord on January 19, 2016.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Poore and their only child, Sherri Denise Eadie. Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Maggie Rumsey Vanadore and father, Walter S. Vanadore; her brothers, Bill and JC Vanadore; and sisters, Della Lawerence, Victoria Whitfield, and Lela Shelton. She is survived by one grandchild, Nicholaus Eadie and son-in-law, David Eadie, both of Ohio. Also surviving are two sisters, Pansy V. Powell of Anderson and Betty Brown, of Ohio.
Sue was deeply loved and cared for by her very special niece, Linda Hardy and her husband Virgil Hardy both of Anderson, also a nephew Seth Hardy who called her his "Nanny Sue". She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. Sue's love of antiques was a passion and she became an expert at antiques and appraisals and operated her own store in Ohio and after moving back to Anderson, she owned Sue's Antiques for many years. One of the family's favorite things remembered about her was if anyone went antiquing with her, you better have the ability to jump from the car while it was still moving if you wanted any chance at buying any of the pieces.
She had a love of gardening and flowers in spring, it was as though the flowers could not wait to greet her and put on their finest show for her. Friends and family remember her meals she prepared, especially Italian dishes. They were always prepared with herbs and tomatoes fresh from her garden, and were always followed by a treat of delicious pastries or cakes made from her own recipes. The beauty of her youth was compared to the character Rose from the movie "The Titanic". Sue's striking blue eyes and her copper red hair could take one's breath away. She had a wonderful sense of humor and took great delight in children.
A special thanks to her caregivers of Hospice of the Upstate; Nevia, Anna, Cheryl, all the Hospice House nurses as well as whoever made the coffee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
The family will be at the home of her niece, Linda Hardy and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 pm with the funeral beginning at 3:30 p.m. with Chaplain Matthew Robinson officiating.
