Susan Mullinax Abernathy, age 73, of Starr, SC, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born November 5, 1948, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Harold L. Mullinax and Jewel Vickery Mullinax. She was married to the late William Anthony Abernathy. Susan was a graduate of Crescent High School Class of 1967. She was an animal lover and loved Elvis. Susan adored her family and loved being "Grammy" to her grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Iva. She is survived by her daughters, Tonda Richmond and Mickie Stottlemire; grandchildren, Logan Richmond, Leighanne Warren, Brooke Bousman, Carlton Gillian, Tony Abernathy, and Matt Abernathy; great grandchildren, Abel Lee Evans, Warrie Bousman, and Joey Abernathy; brothers, Roger Mullinax and Vic Mullinax; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Harold "Hal" Abernathy, granddaughter, Ashlei rae Richmond; and sister, Becky Mullinax. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel at 2:30 pm with Rev. Jerry Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted and memorial contributions may be made to PAWS, 1320 US-29, Anderson, SC 29626.
