Obituary

Susan Clarice Erickson Mooney, beloved wife and mother, passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of Friday, October 14, 2016 at the AnMed Health Medical Center at the too-young age of 63. She was born in Stockton, CA to the late Theodore Kenneth Erickson and Nina Snyder Erickson. She graduated high school from Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, NM and later in life graduated with honors from Midland College in Midland, TX. She worked managing bank branches before finding her calling as the part-time bookkeeper at Rio Grande Energy, Inc., and full-time ruler of her household. Susan was married at the age of 18, but it didn't take. After re-evaluating her standards, she met and fell in love with Michael G. Mooney at the age of 23, and they remained together happily until her death. Susan loved to travel and got to see a larger part of the world than most people are blessed with, a fact for which she was grateful. She also enjoyed sewing and embroidery, but there was never enough time to spare for her hobby in the wake of her active life. She is survived by her husband, Michael G, Mooney; a son, Samuel Erik Mooney, of Tulsa, OK; a daughter, Jill Smith, of Midland, TX; three brothers, Steven Erickson, of Albuquerque, NM, Darwin Erickson, of Sparks, NV, and Bob Pitney, of St. Petersburg, FL; and four grandchildren, Evan, Natalie, Hudson, and Collin Smith. They are all lessened today for her loss. Despite having only moved to Anderson in recent years, she was very active in the community and is leaving behind a large circle of dear friends who have been abundant in their generosity to her family in their time of shock of grief. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Susan will be held in The Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your area SPCA. Susan loved animals and her family feels that she would have wanted her passing to be marked by the same charity she showed everyone around her.
