Swain Norris Thompson, Jr., age 74 of Anderson, SC passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born October 7, 1942 in Bethesda, Maryland, Swain was the son of the late Swain Thompson, Sr. and the late Lizzie Mae Chamblee Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Craft. He was a graduate of Crescent High School and Anderson College. He was founder of Amcan Transport Service in 1974. He enjoyed spending his spare time boating and playing tennis. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Nalley Thompson of the home; sons, Michael Dwain Thompson of Washington, DC and Swain Norris "Tripp" Thompson, III of Anderson; uncle, Dwain "Whit" Chamblee; nephews, Rob and Thom Craft; brother-in-law, Gary Craft; also survived by two grandchildren, Dru and Teller Thompson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at The McDougald Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at First Baptist Church of Anderson with Dr. James R. Thomason officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
