Sybil Bagwell Williams, age 96, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at her home.

Born May 31, 1928, in Pelzer, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Fred Bagwell and Emma Richardson Bagwell. She was married for 56 years to Carroll "Frank" Williams until his death in 2005. She was also preceded in death by 5 brothers, William F. Bagwell, Carl Bagwell, Ellis Bagwell, Hoyt Bagwell, and Wade Bagwell; and 3 sisters, Edith Harrison, Gladys Spearman, and Ruth Bagwell.

Sybil graduated from Anderson College in 1946 and Winthrop University in 1948. She was a teacher in Oconee County for 3 years followed by 33 years of teaching in Anderson County before retiring in 1983. There is no doubt she had an impact on many students throughout her career. She enjoyed serving her community as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Sybil loved traveling, including a memorable trip to Alaska, and taking beach and mountain trips with her grandchildren. She would collect lapel pins and Christmas ornaments from all of her travels. She was a wonderful cook and liked to say that she "loved to cook for those who loved to eat." She was an active member of Boulevard Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was on the Pastor Search Committee, and was Director of the Children's Ministry.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Frank Williams; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Williams; brother, Lonnie Bagwell; grandchildren, Christy Ledford (Chris), Casey Earhart (Matt), and Katie Jackson (Jeremy); great grandchildren, Caely, Abby, Hally, Eli, Isla, Felix, Alyssa, Jasper, and Winnie; and sisters-in-law, Bobbie Bagwell and Carolyn Bagwell. Also surviving is her special friend and neighbor, Emily Ayer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sybil's caregivers, Susan, Missy, Sandy, Barbara, Cathy, and Frances as well as the staff of Hospice of the Upstate for all the care provided.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 pm at Boulevard Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm with Dr. John McKinney and Dr. Austin Carty officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
