Sylvester "Vester" Cox Iva, SC Sylvester "Vester" Cox, age 68, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Elberton, GA, on September 26, 1946, he was the son of the late Paul Wilson Cox, Sr. and the late Jewel Dye Cox Eubanks and the step-son of the late Elmer Eubanks. He retired from his own construction company and was a former contractor with Rice Construction. Sylvester was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and building bird houses. He was of the Baptist faith. Being a great family man, he is survived by his devoted wife, of 50 years, Patricia Jones Cox; three loving children, Teresa Vaughn and her husband Steve, Angie Sutherland and her husband Jimmy and William Cox and his wife Melanie; a sister, Frances Driver; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Wilson Cox, Jr. and Julian Cox. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with Reverend Mike McMillion officiating. Interment will follow at Iva City Cemetery.
