Sylvia Childs Cash, age 84, of Anderson, SC, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, at Rainey Hospice House. Born June 6, 1938, in Griffin, GA, she was the daughter of the late Thurman Dural Childs and Vera Allen Battle Childs. She was married for 56 years to Larry Eugene Cash until his death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by two children, Kerri Cash and Todd Cash. Sylvia was a graduate of Forrest College and retired from Anderson School District Five after 35 years of service. She loved to travel and was a "beach bum" who enjoyed camping on the coast. She was a life-long member of Eureka Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Russell E. Cash and his wife Julie; grandchildren, Jessica Cash Screws and her husband Daniel and Amanda Cash McGee and her husband Kyle; great granddaughter, Vera Leigh McGee; and brother Allen D. Childs. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ron Fousek officiating. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at the home of her son.
