SYLVIA CLARK March 17, 1937 - February 19, 2013 Sylvia June Gibson Clark, age 75, of 319 Rhodehaven Drive, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Claude Gibson and the late Rosa Elizabeth Pitts Gibson. For 34 years, Mrs. Clark was the loving and devoted wife of the late Joseph William "Bill" Clark who died in 1990. Sylvia was a graduate of Girls High School in Anderson, the Class of 1955. She was retired from a successful career with the US Postal Service where she served as a payroll clerk and accountant at the Anderson Main Branch on McDuffie Street. Upon her graduation from Girls High, she moved to Washington, DC, where she worked in US Naval Intelligence. Mrs. Clark was an active member of Covenant Baptist Church as long as her health would permit. Survivors include 2 sons, Joseph William "Bill" Clark, Jr., and his wife, Cindy, of Orangeburg, SC, and Jeffrey Lee Clark of Anderson. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Morgan Leigh Clark of Orangeburg. In addition to her parents and husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Talbert Gibson. A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Mrs. Sylvia Clark will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 2 PM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Silvey officiating. A private interment will be held at a later time at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, February 23, 2013, from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM.
