Sylvia Cromer Sears, age 88, formerly of 514 Drayton Circle, Anderson, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Brookdale of Anderson. Born on August 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ethan Cromer and the late Geneva Gable Cromer Shaw. She worked as a school teacher, and later at Anderson Memorial Hospital. She retired as secretary to Dr. Ned Camp until the closing of his practice. Mrs. Sears was a member of First Baptist Church of Anderson. Mrs. Sears is survived by her children, Charles W. "Chuck" Sears and wife, Doris, of Florence, SC, and Sharon Knox and husband, Sam, of Anderson; a half-sister, Frankie Leonard Ross of Anderson; also surviving are eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sears was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Sears; four brothers, T.E., Jack, Mark, and Charles Cromer; and step-father, J. L. Shaw. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Sylvia Sears will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 2:30 PM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. James R. Thomason officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
