Street, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Habersham County, GA on November 9, 1917, Mr. Williams was a son of the late James Wesley Williams and Ida Sigars Williams. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and retired from Abney Mill with 62 years of service. He was a member of Garner Memorial Baptist Church and was an avid gardener.He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 69 years, Avis L. Saxon Williams of the home; children, John Williams, Gael Williams, Esther Bowman and Ted Williams, all of Anderson; brothers, Tatum Williams of Anderson and Harold Williams of Georgia. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Judith Ann Smith; granddaughter, Marie Ashworth; siblings, Alvin Williams, Addie Williams, Daisy McIntyre, Lavada Williams and Ernest Williams.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Isham Gilcrease.
