CORNETT February 28, 1931 - August 19, 2009ANDERSON, SCTalton Preston Cornett, age 78, husband of Mary Holcombe Cornett, of 3931 Highway 24, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Jasper, GA, he was a son of the late Talton Cornett and Mary Bolding Cornett. He was a construction superintendent with Pickens Construction Company in Anderson and the Hubbard Construction in Walhalla. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple. Survivors include his wife of the home; twin daughters, Janet Burt and Jane Peace, both of Fort Payne, AL and Gail Purdy of Anderson; sons, Wendell Cornett of Chattanooga, TN, Winford Cornett of Dayton, TN; Mike Crawford of Six Mile, SC and Steve Crawford of Wills Point, TX; sisters, Elizabeth Waters, Mary Carver and Eva Denny, all of Jasper, GA; brothers, J. C. Cornett of Ball Ground, GA and Randall Cornett of Hinton, GA. He was also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harpo Cornett.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Sam Duncan. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The family will be at the residence.Flowers are optional or memorials may be made Gethsemane Baptist Temple, P.O.
