THELMA E. SMITH June 5, 1916 - July 4, 2012 PIEDMONT, SC Thelma Elrod Smith, age 96, of 116 Moore Road, Piedmont, SC, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at her residence. Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late John Mason Elrod and Eula Ellenburg Elrod. She helped her husband, the late Julian Furman Smith, with the family farm for many years. She also worked at Judson Mill and retired from the Greenville County Library System. She was a life-long member and the oldest member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Thelma was a member of the Webb Pepper Sunday School Class. Thelma is survived by a son, Ray Smith of the home and his life-long friend, Carolyn Hughes; a son-in-law, Henry Leslie of Piedmont; a grandchild, Steve Leslie, his wife Deanna and their children Erica and Blake of Piedmont; a sister, Oneita Richey of Anderson; and her faithful caregiver, Frankie Smith. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Christine S. Leslie; two brothers, Wayne and John Elrod; and three sisters, Louise Cater, JoAnn Collins, and Frances M. Elrod. The Funeral Service to honor the life of Mrs. Smith will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at11:30AM at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry White officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 10:00AM until 11:30AM. Flowers are optional, or memorials may be made to Mt.
