Thomas L. Boggs, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Richard M. Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home. Born in Anderson County, SC on August 3, 1931, he was the son of the late Julius Floyd Boggs and the late Daisy Haynie. He was a 1949 graduate of Honea Path High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 in Korea, earning the rank of ME-2 and receiving medals such as Good Conduct, Korean Conflict, and United Nations. He earned three battle stars in his Korean Medal. Thomas was a 1959 graduate of Clemson University earning a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and was a member of the Civil Engineering Club from 1957 until 1959. He worked with Daniel Construction Company from 1959-1969 and then opened and operated his own company, Boggs Home Builders from 1971 until 1988. In 1974 he was named to the "Who's Who in South Carolina" and in 1975 was named to "Outstanding Americans in the South". He is survived by his wife, Martha Wright Boggs; his former wife, Jeannetta Pierce; sons, Thomas L. Boggs, Jr. (Dana) and Steve Boggs (Marilyn); daughters, Tessie Gebhardt (Jeff) and Gwen Travis (Mark); sisters, Julia Roberts, Carolyn Harris, and Dot Cooley; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur Boggs, Sr., James Boggs, and Norman Boggs, Sr.; and his infant sister, Martha Ellen Boggs. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
