BURLEY September 5, 1953 - December 7, 2012 Thomas David Burley, age 59, of 2000 Brookview Drive, entered into his Heavenly home upon his death at Rainey Hospice House on Friday, December 7, 2012. Born in Roanoke, VA, he was a son of Mrs. Elizabeth H. Burley of Clinton, SC, and the late William D. Burley, Sr. Mr. Burley graduated from T. L. Hanna High School, a member of the Class of 1972, and attended Tri-County Tech. Tom was a member of the US Navy Sea Bees from 1980 - 1985. He was a finishing carpenter for many years and was Director of Building and Grounds at Central Presbyterian Church. He was a faithful and devoted member of Central Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, and was a member and teacher of the Genesis Sunday School Class. Tom was a fan of Clemson football and NASCAR racing. Those left to carry on his legacy in addition to his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Burley, include his loving and devoted wife, Ruth Burley of the residence; a son, Rory Ables and his wife, Melissa of Pendleton; 2 daughters, Jessica L. Bagwell and her husband, Chad of Greer, Ashley N. Carson and husband, John, of Iva; a brother, William D. Burley, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Garland, TX; also surviving are 2 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, and many extended family members and devoted friends whose relationship he cherished. Tom was preceded in death by his father, the late William D. Burley, Sr. and a sister, Susan H. Burley. A Funeral Service to celebrate and honor the life of Thomas D. Burley will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at 2 PM at the Central Presbyterian Church, with Dr. David J. Bailey and Rev. Allyson Helvie officiating. The family will have a private committal ceremony at Forest Lawn Mausoleum prior to the funeral service. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home Tuesday, December 11, 2012, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
