Thomas Ray Carter, age 68, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born June 10, 1956, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Willie OB Carter and Louise Rucker Carter. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby William Carter and Willie OB Carter, Jr.

Tommy was formerly a foreman with the South Carolina Department of Transportation and retired after 28 years of faithful service. He was always a hard worker and began working when he was 12 years old. If he wasn't on the job, you could find him outdoors because that's where he was happy. He enjoyed hunting, drag car racing, and spending time with his buddies and family.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sharon Davis Carter; son, Thomas Alan Carter of Anderson; daughter, Beth Farrar (Nelson) of Christiansburg, VA; brother, John R. Carter (Lynn) of Elberton, GA; and granddaughter, Leslie Carter McClain of Greer.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Brent Lollis officiating. The family will speak with guests immediately following the service graveside.
