Thomas Franklin Eskew, age 85, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Born in Anderson, SC, Thomas was the son of the late James Harley Eskew and the late Nellie Florence Hamilton Eskew. He was a graduate of Boys High in Anderson. He graduated from Clemson University, where he served in the ROTC for four years. He loved Clemson and was a very proud alumnus. After college, Thomas served as an officer in the United States Army. He lived most of his adult life in Atlanta, GA. He was a salesman for several aluminum companies, and retired from Anaconda Aluminum Company. He owned and managed several commercial real estate properties in his retirement years. Thomas was an avid collector of Coke memorabilia, antique cars, wine and art. He was a perennial runner in the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race. He had a passion for all foods southern; grits, biscuits, fried chicken, and SC peaches, were some of his favorites. Thomas had a wonderful sense of humor, a razor sharp wit, and a thunderous laugh that will be sadly missed. He is survived by five nieces, Robin Rowell Slater, of Atlanta, GA, Amanda Rowell Keller, of Atlanta, GA, Meg Jones, of Anderson, SC, Jill Fleishman Higdon, of Louisville, KY, and Paula Eskew Hill, of Anderson, SC; six nephews, Bob Rowell, of Spartanburg, SC, Byck Fleishman, of Memphis, TN, Jason Fleishman, of Tuscaloosa, AL, Thomas Eskew & Mark Eskew, of Anderson, SC and Billy Eskew, of Columbia, SC; his life-long friend, William Barnard, of Atlanta, GA; and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Eskew Rowell, Harley Eskew, Carolyn Eskew Fleishman, and Paul Eskew. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Reid officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, prior to the service, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reidville Road United Methodist Church, 5575 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369.
