Thomas Jerry Hays, age 71, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at his home. Born July 19, 1951, in Oakland, CA, he was the son of the late George Derrill Hays and Volina McClellan Hays. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steven Hays; and grandchildren, Sarah Louise and James Michael Hays. Jerry was the manager of Hartwell Villa Association. He enjoyed camping and boating and had the ability to build or fix anything. He faithfully served his community for over 20 years as a volunteer fireman with Center Rock Volunteer Fire Department. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce A. Cobb Hays; sons, Thomas J. Hays, Jr. (Jessica) and Stephen M. Hays (Mandy) both of Anderson; grandchildren, Caitlyn Reynolds (Daniel) of Anderson, Asheton Benson (Joey) of Greenville, Lauryn and Eadon Hays both of Anderson, Matthew Hays and Michaela Hays both of Anderson; and great grandchildren, Natalie and Caroline Reynolds. The family will receive friends Monday, January 2, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie James officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
