Thomas Clayton "Pap" Herbster, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Lewistown, PA, he was the son of the late George Henry Herbster and the late Ethel Harris Herbster. He earned his BS in Economics from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Tom retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas in Anderson, SC. He was an active community leader serving on Anderson County School Board of Education, the State Board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Westside Boosters Club and the Upstate Equine Association. Tom was an avid hunter and in his spare time could be found gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Frances "Kay" Shingler Herbster; a son, Tom Herbster and his wife Laura, of Newburgh, IN; two daughters, Natalie Hester, of Anderson, SC and Nedra Ulrich and her husband Phil, of Sewickley, PA; and six grandchildren, Carey, Andrew and Sarah Ulrich, Caleb and Clay Hester, and Savannah Herbster. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Covenant Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Rigsby officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors.
