The McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, SC 29621864-224-4343OBITUARY W/PHOTO THOMAS CARROLL HOLCOMBE ANDERSON, SCThomas Carroll Holcombe, loving husband of Nancy Adcox Holcombe of Anderson, SC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 1, 2010. Born in Simpsonville, SC, Mr. Holcombe was a son of the late Ed and Maggie Nabors Holcombe. He was a Shriner and Mason. He retired from Cryovac Division of W. R. Grace, Simpsonville, SC after 35 years of service. He was also a true Clemson fan and enjoyed all Clemson sports. But most of all, he was an active member of the greatest church in the world, Mt. Tabor Baptist, Anderson, SC, where he was also a member of the most caring, loving, praying, devoted Sunday School class anyone could ever imagine, the Joy Sunday School Class. Surviving in addition to his wife are three wonderful children: Tammy H. Smith and husband, Chris, of Cincinnati, OH, Layton Holcombe and wife Sandy, of Simpsonville, SC, and Rene' H. Benefield and husband Jason, of Gray Court, SC. He also had six grandchildren that he was so proud of: Noah, Caleb and Daniel Smith, Sandra Holcombe, Rusty Shinault and Rebecca Newton; two great-grandchildren, Devin and Sarah and two step-grandchildren, Keri and Matthew Benefield, and several wonderful nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, Emily, BreAnn, Allyson and Erin who were like granddaughters to him. He is survived by two sisters, Jean Cantrell and husband Bill, of Moncks Corner, SC and Sandra King and husband David, of Simpsonville, SC; two step-sisters, Rita Mullinax of Greenwood, SC and Joyce Sims of Simpsonville, SC.Mr. Holcombe was predeceased by brothers, Junius, Charles, Robert, and James Holcombe and sisters, Willie Mae Holcombe, Catherine Hatley, Margaret Cantrell and Ernestine Hill.Mr. Holcombe wanted the following special people to know how much their love, food, medical care, errands, health equipment, hats, visits, prayers and special friendship meant to him and his wife during his time of illness: Kim, David, Brent, Ken and Elaine, Terry, Debbie and Brad, Teddy, Terry, Sandy and Dorothy, Dear Lucy and family, Joyce and Danny, Gale, Mary and Shelly, Ken and Gail, Michael and Stephanie, John and Cathy, Jack, Peggy and Fred, Jimmy and Vernie, Bill and Sandra, Howard and Lynne, Isabel, Curt, Angie and family, Harriett and Bill, Jeannie and Tommy, our Mt. Tabor Church family, the Joy Sunday School Class the Winsome Sunday School Class, Jackie and Nelle, Bob, Sandra, Laura and Calvin, Harold and Barbara, Dot and Chuck, Janie and Johnny, Brian and Julie, our Clemson family, and Cassie (our chemo nurse), Dr. Spitzer and his staff, the St. Francis Outpatient Infusion nurses and the many others that kept us in their daily prayers. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00 am at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Anderson, SC, officiated by the Reverends Danny Gray, Brian Crowther and Evan Hill. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.Entombment will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Augusta Road, Greenville, SC. The family will not be going to the Mausoleum after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt.
