Mr. Thomas Lorin Hughes, 102, of 709 Woodfield Drive, husband of the late Elaine Davis Hughes, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Born in Camilla, Georgia on September 17, 1919, he was the son of the late William Edwin Hughes and Daisye Belle Geiger Hughes. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. Mr. Hughes retired in 1987 as a New York Life Field Representative. Mr. Hughes was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Augusta, GA for 56 years where he was an elder and was active in personal evangelism. He was currently a member of Christ Reformed Church in Anderson, SC. Surviving Mr. Hughes are his daughter Carolyn Lopez and her husband Maurice of Anderson, SC; grandson, Jeff Lopez and his wife, Angie of Pendleton, SC; great granddaughter, Rachel Lopez; granddaughters, Corley Hughes and Courtney McKlveen (Hughes); great granddaughters, Nicolette McKlveen and Harriet Frances Hughes Naugle; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Hughes of Ohio; step granddaughters, Stacy Benson and Jessica Schaefer; step sons, Stuart Davis Kent and his wife, Connie of Macon, GA and Paul David Kent and his wife, Kellie of West Columbia, SC; step daughter, Summer Marie Kent Wright and her husband, Joey of USAF Academy, Colorado; ten step-grandchildren; Megan Kent, James Paul Kent, and Stuart Kent, Jr; Mary Elaine, Zoie, Henry, and George Kent; Grady, Owen, and Murray Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Edith Corley Hughes, wife of 56 years, a son, Dr. Thomas Lorin Hughes, Jr., a brother, William E. Hughes, Jr. and three sisters, Ann Belle Good, Kathryn Murray, and Jane Winslow. The family would like to thank the staff at NHC HealthCare Anderson, and Whitney Rodgers, RN. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Alexander Campbell and Jack Stauffer. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the funeral. Interment will be on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Eastview Cemetery in Edgefield, SC.
