Thomas S. Knotts February 2, 1947 - August 15, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Thomas Simpson Knotts I, age 65, husband of the late, Mary Ann Spearman Knotts, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Columbia. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Thomas Elvin Knotts and Mildred Simpson Knotts. Thomas was a graduate of North High School in North, SC. He later graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War serving as a Captain in the U.S. Army; he also served many years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was an comptroller with T. Ree McCoy Company for 25 years. He was a former member of The Anderson Sertoma Club. Thomas was a member of Riverside Baptist where he served as a Deacon. Survivors include his children, Thomas S. Knotts, II. of Irmo, SC, Joseph E. Knotts, III and his wife Sarah of Ft. Hood, TX, David F. Knotts and his wife Amy of Anderson, SC, Matthew E. Knotts and his wife Dana of Belton, SC and John Paul Fretwell of Anderson, SC ; his sisters, Deborah Knotts of Anderson, SC and Sandra E. Knotts of Irmo, SC; and 16 grandchildren, Tara Mize, Alena Knotts, Paige Knotts, Christina Knotts, MyKala Knotts, Joseph Knotts, Walter "Bear" Knotts, Bianka Knotts, Jesse Knotts, A'zariah Knotts, Saadiah Knotts, Hadassah Knotts, MaryAnna Knotts, Evanessah Knotts, Taylor Knotts and Clearance Spearman. The Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Benjamin Taylor and Reverend Wayne Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm. The family will be at the home of his son, David Knotts, 120 Green Forest Drive, Anderson, SC 29625.
