Thomas Leck Isom, age 94, passed away on May 14, 2017 at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Hart County, GA on October 2, 1922, he was the son of the late Perry Isom and Lallie Carnes Isom of Hart County, GA. Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Throughout his life, he worked as a farmer, carpenters assistant and a car dealer. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He is survived by his sister Eula Keown and her husband Alton, of Anderson; and a special friend and caretaker, Marie Burden of Anderson. He formally lived in the home of a sister, Avis Walters and her husband Alford. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly. The five surviving nieces and nephews are, Lillian Hancock, Ramona Vickery, Faye Verrett, and Doug and Harold Walters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Raye Bost; a nephew, Kendel Walters; three brothers; and four sisters. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverends George H. Donigian and Jimmy Cash officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, 233 New Hope Rd., Anderson, SC 29626 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
