Thomas Elvin Kern, 82 of Anderson, SC, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born August 15, 1936 in Pasadena, CA, he was the son of the late Thomas Alvin Kern and Verna Marie Smith Kern. Mr. Kern was a self -employed land developer and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Pearne Kern; sons, Tom Kern (Deana) of Anderson, SC, Jon Kern (Susie) of Carlsbad, CA and Mark Kern of San Diego, CA; daughters, Cindy Nitchals of Anderson, SC, Elizabeth Engholn (Chris) of Bentonville, AR, Marianne Sterna of San Diego, CA and Kristine Kern of Carlsbad, CA; eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Philip S.
