He was a 1957 graduate of Townville High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Piedmont Natural Gas with 33 years of service. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans Camp 1428 Palmetto Sharp Shooters and the Townville Masonic Lodge #209. He attended Double Springs Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Sam Roberts and his wife, Tracy of Fair Play; brothers, Bill Roberts of Starr and Glenn Roberts of Chickamauga, GA and two grandchildren, Samantha Lynn Roberts and Michael Thomas Roberts.A brother, Jack Roberts preceded him in death.The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Daryle Hawthorne and Reverend Kyle Caudell. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.
