Born in Anderson County, SC on April 8, 1925, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Jessie Pickens Smith and Sadie Loftis Smith. He retired from Clark-Schwebel and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife, Doris Alewine Smith of the home; son, Thomas Steve Smith and his wife, Rhonda of Honea Path; daughter, Pamela Gail Smith McConnell and her husband, Terry Hawkins of Anderson; brother, Bobby Smith of Iva; sisters, Juanita Burton of Iva and Faye McCullough of Mauldin; sister-in-law, Marian Cain of Starr; four grandchildren, Kaleb, Scottie and Shawn Smith and Chandra McConnell; three great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Boyd, Paul and Lamar Smith.The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 4:00 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend Ray Hansel. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
