IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Franklin
Vegod
April 20, 1947 – February 24, 2024
Thomas Franklin Vegod, 76, of Pendleton, SC, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Prisma Greenville Hospital, surrounded by family.
Tom was born April 20, 1947, in Greenville, MS, and was the son of the late Al Vegod and the late Josephine Adair Albright Vegod. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lili Kornegay.
Tom was a proud graduate of Ole Miss and worked as a real estate broker and appraiser for 40 plus years. He was active in the Pendleton community as a member of the Pendleton Area Business Association, officer of Pendleton Pride in Motion, and was instrumental in the building of Barrett's Place; a beautiful community playground. He served his country in the Vietnam War with the US Army.
He was a jack of all trades, loved crafting projects and woodworking. With his very dry sense of humor, bad dad jokes delivered with a dead pan stare and absolutely no emotion, made the corny one-liner puns hilarious. Tom loved his girls and enjoyed every minute spent in their company. He was a great husband and was a friend to many. He had an easy ear for listening to others offering sound advice. He lived life to the fullest and his absence will be felt by many.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jean Howell Vegod: daughters, Kristen Zeigler, her husband Barrett and Katy Arvia, and her husband, Aaron; grandson, Brayden Arvia: and brother-in-law, Robert Howell.
The family will celebrate the life of Tom Vegod on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the McDougald Pendleton Center, 1001 S. Mechanic St., Pendleton, SC. Celebrant Michael T. Rippy will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
